Ride to Daman

After coming back from the UK I was raring for a ride as always I looked on xbhp and facebook if any of my friends were up for any and soon my friend Avinash came up with a ride plan. Others to signed up the day was fixed as 7th Oct 2012 and we set off for a single day ride. The destination was to to be Daman in Gujarat. We assembled at Ghodbunder road near Hypercity mall and set off from there. Avinash knew the roads and so he lead the group. I was tailing as my bike was slowest of the group :p.
The roads leading to Daman are a pleasure to ride everybody was riding to the max the bikes could go. I will let the pics below do most of the talking
As can be seen above the NH8 is a treat to drive 4 lane butter smooth highways no potholes.

Our first break was at Kamats we had the customary misal pav. The group from left to right Saurabh, Avinash, Pavan and Shahbaz. There were other rider groups too at that spot we especially noted the CBR rider group with all CBR except one Ninja.

We moved on ahead taking butt breaks spotting this greenery. The road condition was marvelous.
An impromptu pic with my bike first here. Below another pic of the greenery by the road side.

Finally we reached the diversion which pointed to Daman. This leads straight to the beach we intend to reach.
More pics once we entered the diversion.

The gate to Daman comes in the view below. Daman and Diu are union territory so the laws here are different fuel is cheaper so is alcohol. It has also become a regular hot spot for people in Gujarat to spend the weekend especially for partying. At this time of the year was pleasant.
Me at the entrance to Daman.

Once we reached the beach we looked around for rental rooms to drop our luggage and gear and also space to park our bikes. There are not many accommodation options available here and the ones available too aren't exactly great ones but we settled down in one with AC to make us more comfortable. Once freshened up we headed to the beach for refreshments and lunch. The beach is big with lots of sand and also it is relatively clean. Though what I noted was that family public would prefer less to come to this spot as it is more a booze heaven so many a people here had drunk the living daylights out of themselves. I being a teetotaler was a case otherwise.
There are shacks all across the beach where we can sit and order lunch and booze. My friends had some drinks I had some fresh prawns and then we ordered the main course of chicken curry and rotis. Once we had our fill we strolled around the beach.
We then head to the rooms for a small nap and freshen ourselves. In the evening again we came on to the beach.

Their were some activities to do on the beach other than lazying around in the water. As no one had bought a change of clothes nobody ventured into the water. The water is clear for a swim. While we arrived we had seen sand buggies on the beach and we had decided to take a ride you could also take a parachute ride on the beach which is pulled by a jeep.
Three of us took the buggies for a ride and then we loitered around on the beach clicking pics of the sunset.

We saw a fishermen's colony doing their regular rounds of business. Some fishermen were also taking tourists for a ride on their boats.
As the lights started dimming we headed back to our room and got in gear and left back for Mumbai. The return ride was again pleasant on the butter smooth roads.
